I absolutly agree!!City LIving is just a one big lie!!!Since January they did not give me the deposit back as well. They have also lied to me about the property and the amount of the rent. Be aware of City LIving!!!!!!!!!!
We rented for a year with them and advise Martin in December 2008 that we are moving out & according to the contract should be getting back our One Month's Deposit Fee of GBP 1000.00 back it is now April 2009 Yes APRIL 2009 & we still have NOT gotten our money from him. We called Martin at least 20 times and each time he had a different Story to tell, I have NO idea why Martin did NOT become a Story Teller instead of being an Estate Agent. I really hope u get whats coming to you Martin being an Bad Human Being is just unacceptable in the world & stealing from other people is just disgusting NOT ONCE DID WE MISS OUR RENT PAYMENT. YOU THIEF.

if everyone reports their case to bbc watchdog as i have then there will be a better chance of them investigating and shaming the SCUMBAG, we cant let him get away with this!
ReplyDeletei lost over £7ooo from City Living. Martin Marcus and Joseph Culinane found me a tennant in Dec 2008. Tenant paid 6 months rent in advance, I never received a penny. I have contacted trading standards in Hackney who are indeed investigating Marcus and hopefuly will take him to court but they were unable to help me retrieve any money owed to me. I then instructed a solicitor who served Marcus with a statuatory demand - suprise, suprise this was ignored. I also instructed legal debt collectors to investigate getting my money back, but after their investigations I was informed that as this was a limited company I would have little chance in any of getting back any money. My next step would have been issuing a court order but to be honest I have lost so much money and spent so much time on sloicitors etc I cannot affort to do this. I to will be contacting bbc watchdog. I feel if enough of us get in touch with them perhaps they will investigate him - please let me know on this blog if you are willing to do this. I think this is our only chance of getting any money back.
ReplyDeleteI currently have a high court judgement out against him for rent money he has kept criminally from me when acting as my management agent. The guys is morally bankrupt, delusional and not to be trusted. He will get his dues of that I am totally sure - but in the meantime we need to raise awareneness as much as possible around his continued criminal activity. Must be stopped.

Martin Marcus assaulted a woman today in his office on Station Road. She asked for her deposit back in cash which she had put on a flat - landlord withdrew his offer. He eventually gave her two thirds of it in cash, one cheque and bounced her around the room. She has a large bruise for her trouble, was threatened by him and another man and has now filed a complaint with police. She will not rest until he is punished and until she gets the rest of her money.
ReplyDeleteWe have lost around £5000 over last year with Martin Marcus.He is a real unscrupulous person who is cheating hard earning money from people like you and me.We took him to the court however the court could not serve the order as he changed his address .Now he and his teams are in Station road Finchley.We informed the police however the metropoliton police is so inefficient that they told us that they will not be taking any action against him inspite of all evidences.Such a shame and disgrace to the whole police system.If anyone can help I will be delighted.
ReplyDeleteMartin Marcus took over £1500 from me on 9th-june 2009, kept £753 as fees from the landlord and pocketed the remaining £753 (which was meant to be held as deposit).
ReplyDelete(For information purposes) Under the Housing Act 2004 all deposits must be paid into a protected deposit scheme within 14 days and the tenant MUST be given the confirmation of this or a tenant can apply for a court order to have it done and the court MUST impose a fine of 3 times the amount of the deposit for failure to do so and that will be awarded to the tenant.
It stated in my tenancy agreement that the www.mydeposits.co.uk scheme was used. I did not realise at the time that i was supposed to have a reference number from the desposit scheme used and I just recently called them only to find out that it had not been used at all.
I managed to trace Martin Marcu by googling the number of the office on my agreement.
Martin Marcus is now at Lets Rent agency 17 Station Road next to Finchley Central underground station. 0208 371 1477 which incidentally is the same number he used in the last agency.
I visited the office on the 4th of Sep 2010 and found Martin there. I asked him about the desposit, he just said I should speak to Flora Vondrakova who he claims was the director of City Lets and responsible for everything. I said that he signed the tenancy agreement as the director and took the money from me and i wanted him to sort it out. He became angry and my friend told him that what he was doing was fraudulent and my friend took out his phone and started videoning him, Martin then quickly left the office while his colleagues grabbed me and assaulted me and left me on the floor. The police arrived as my friend had called them but they treated us like we had done something wrong and they did not want to know. We explained the situation and they said there was nothing they could do and suggested we take it up with the courts!
I really hope that they catch the guy...he is a rat, and desirve to go down for what he has done to everyone involved.
ReplyDeleteHe has done something similar to me , ie. taken a deposit of £1800 and failed to register / return it to tenant which holds the landlord responsible. He has now been debarred from mydeposits.co.uk for falsifying information. Its just a matter of time before he pays for his misdemeanours . I urge everyone to contact police, National Fraud Agency, Companies Investigation Branch, Courts etc.

ReplyDeleteBut the apartment he showed us was already rented to someone else , I found the landlord and he gave me a letter and he explain that there is no apartment for rent and why he collected this money from you .
But this guy refused to pay my money back, since May 2011.
He is now based in Finchley Central under the comapany name of "Anyfields" still ripping people off, promising properties to rent to tenants at a fee of £300 up front, claiming he and his dodgey "team" will find a property in a desired location for the property, otherwise the potential tenant will be refunded within a month. He will then refuse to pay that money back when that month is up and moneys have been requested to be paid back. However if a dodgey property is found for a potential tenant, the property will not even belong to him to rent in the first place and he pockets one month deposit and one month in advsnce or sometimes 6 months up front. ReplyDeletehe Put in a tenant at my property and messed about with the deposit and rent in advance saying he did a transfer and it takes time to clear, sent me fake emails from the "accounts team" that they made a payment, found this post and am in shock how this person is still seeing the light of the sun.
guys together we will screw this man and get our money back from that scumbag!
I think you guys should also contact Find a Property, Rightmove and Zoopla who might just stop this crook from advertising on their portals which i am sure will affect his monthly figures.
